complaints, i voted in the very first election in san francisco in 1999 and they happened to be the latest iteration of the sunshine ordinance. andvy gone back and done the research and seen that you have not taken a single complaint for a hearing except the jewe l gomez and i think that the only reason that you did that was because the civil grand jury pointed it out in their report and you wanted to be able to say no, that is not true, we heard one. you know, it is really auful, and you can be as dismissive as possible, and it is really auful to sit in board and commission meetings and watch citizens denied their right to speak, being told that they are not allowed to speak about certain things. and then, they have to go to the sunshine ordinance task force and fight for those rights under the sunshine ordinance. then to get enforcement, they have to have it referred to you and you simply allow mr. st. croix to dismiss them all. and you wonder why i am a little ticked. i have four things on the 150 word summaries that i mentioned before that have all been approved by the sunshine ordinan

lane. >>> developing news out of san francisco. early morning chase and shooting and crash, left busy intersection closed. amy hollyfield is live in the western addition to tell us what happened. >> reporter: it ended here at franklin with a crash quite a reaction to police just trying to pull a white car over because officers say the light on the plate was out. the guys took off. there was a high speed chase then a crash when the car ran a red light at franklin and eddie. the white car crash food a taxicab. before they crashed police say the passenger was firing shots at the police officers. once the crash happened the two men took off, running. officers ran after them. they were able to catch one the shooter. the driver did get away. they are still looking for one man. police officers were okay, none hurt. the taxi driver was taken to the hospital. he has an injured hand. he's going to be fine. police say given how fast the guys were going it is amazing there weren't more injuries and the injuries weren't more serious. the investigators are here taking a look at the scene trying to
. from san francisco to oakland to san jose. there are a dozen or two more. at night we talked to the santa clara county boy scouts. the organization is apologizing to the victims. at the same time, they're reassuring the public they're doing what they can to prevent abuses from happening again. >> inside these boxes are the so-called perversion files, more than 1200 cases of known or suspected child abusers who at one time were in the boy scouts. files kept by the boy scouts for decades. but now made public by two attorneys in portland, oregon. >> the boy scouts knew they had an institutionwide problem with child abuse and didn't take steps to deal with that. >> the national president on the most part agrees. in certain cases our response to these incidents and our efforts to protect youth were plainly insufficient. inappropriate or wrong. the files contain information about reported abusers in 49 states from 1965 to 1985. >> here's sunnyvale, here's one. >> reporter: a number of abusers are from the bay area. each file has a record sheet and letters. some cases went to author

that their car crashed into and the car itself are still on scene. we have video from earlier. san francisco police say this all began at around 2:00 this morning just a few blocks from here at ellis and laguna. that's when officers say they were trying to pull over a car for a broken license plate light. and that is when the suspect's car tried to get away. not only that, they believe that the suspect or suspects fired shots on officers. as they tried to catch up to this car at eddy and franklin there was a crash with a cab. after that the suspects tried to run away. police arrested the passenger of the car but one man is still on the loose. they believe it is the driver of the car. it's still an active scene, officers gathering evidence from the taxi and the car. right now they have the passenger in custody. they want to gather more information as time progresses at this time. they set up a perimeter to look for the suspect but said it's such a wide area. they did take that down. these suspects are not from san francisco but other than that we only know that they are two males and we are s

you shortly. >>> a vacant building in san francisco's castro district drew an intense police response after protesters took it over. officers stormed the building to protest the housing shortage. john alston is live at castro and 18th where this wept down. john? >> carolyn, 20 people were arrested and they are standing by as workers make repairs while inside. they used to be a restaurant that was vacant for several years which is one of the reasons that protesters made it a target. they gave protesters less than an hour before they moved in themselves. officers surrounded the building on castro street near 18th while the protesters were taken into custody upstairs. demonstrators went through the doors about 6:00 p.m. and began hanging signs. >> it was once vacant, and it is now occupied. >> the demonstrators are with a group called homes, not jails. they were protesting a shortage of housing in san francisco. it started with a march from dolores park as part of the world homeless action day. their target was an empty building storefront and second floor apartment owned by a castro man
